Education and Career Accomplishments:
Dorota Burchart is a Professor at Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Transport and Aviation Engineering (Poland, EU).

She received her M.Sc. degree (1999) in management and production engineering from Silesian University of Technology (Poland, EU), Faculty of Organization and Management, her Ph.D. (2004) in discipline: metallurgy from Faculty of Materials Engineering and Metallurgy, D.Sc. (2014) in discipline: environmental engineering from Central Mining Institute (Poland, EU) and the appointment procedure to become Professor (2013) in the field: engineering and technical sciences, the discipline: civil engineering, geodesy and transport (Prof.)

She is a lecturer in Silesian University of Technology (Poland, EU) from 2004 and in the meantime from 2009 to 2017 she has worked at Department of Energy Saving and Air Protection in the Central Mining Institute (Poland, EU), where she was a head of the Eco-efficiency Analysis Laboratory for Technologies and Products.

She is a leader or contractor of several scientific projects, including international. She was graduated postgraduate studies “Lean Manufacturing” and participated in the scientific internships at the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic, EU) and Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum gGmbH (DBFZ) in Leipzig in Department of the Bioenergy Systems (Germany, EU). She had a lectures at the Brandenburg University of Technology in Cottbus (Germany, EU) and VSB - Technical University of Ostrava (Czech Republic, EU).

Research interests:
Her research activities are focused on environmental and production engineering, transport systems and logistics. She uses the newest sustainability assessment methodologies, associated with life cycle approach (Life Cycle Assessment and Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment) and eco-efficiency. She is author of the eco-efficiency methodology as a new criterion for production system assessment. Besides her research activities she is working as an reviewer for scientific research projects and articles.

Summary of publication activity:
She has published more than 230 scientific papers and she is the co-author of three academic handbooks and she is the author of a scientific monograph. So far she participated in 68 conferences (national and international). In 2020 and in 2021 she was on the list of World's #Top #2% #Scientists - 2% of the most influential scientists in the world prepared by Stanford University (USA) and published by the Elsevier publishing house.

Awards:
In the Silesian University of Technology she received several Rector’s Awards for achievements for scientific achievements, organizational area and for educational activity. She was awarded degree of the Level III Mining Director granted by the Minister of Energy.
